The digital transformation of personnel management from the perspective of leaders in the field of HR
“Digital HR”, written by Prof. Thorsten Petry and Prof. Wolfgang Jäger was published by Haufe Verlag in May 2018 (in German). The hefty tome provides an in-depth introduction to the topic of digital human resource work, the digital transformation, flexible working and new technological developments relevant to HR over almost 500 (!) pages. Relating thereto, the book outlines how an HR strategy of the future may look, how HR processes may be digitalised and what role HR IT plays in this. This work is a product of collaborating amongst many academics, thus explaining the high calibre of the articles. The theory is substantiated by examples of best practices and field reports from numerous experts in business, consultancy and science. The focus is on concrete solution approaches from various sectors. The information and knowledge gains delve beyond the surface and get right down to business. The book is therefore certainly suitable for advanced readers. Our AI expert, Ingolf Teetz, presents the foundations of artificial neuronal networks as self-learning systems in his article, spread over 15 pages. He leads you from uses in everyday life, such as image and language recognition, all the way to topics relevant to recruitment. He describes how artificial intelligence can help to attract more “suitable” candidates, to select the right person from the candidate pool and also thereby make the selection as objective as possible. He also touches on the challenges, such as finding enough training data, for example.
