On the future of digital HR management through the Internet of Things or Smart HRM
The results of the “Smart HRM” Delphi study by Prof. Strohmeier from the Saarland University are available. 40 experts of HRM and of HR-IT were asked about “Smart HRM”.Changes in creating commodities and providing services are to be expected due to the Internet of Things – keyword: “Smart Work”. HR management has to adapt to staff requirements, which are changing because of automation in regards to quantity and quality.
On the other hand, HR management has to deal with direct changes to their everyday work, e.g. a considerable improvement in the supply of information and a further automation of HR work.
Conclusively, experts think the future realisation of Smart HRM to be a realistic scenario. Overall, this marks a whole new phase and quality of technological support for HR work, consisting not only of pure software, but also in part of innovative hardware. Which is why it is important that HR management actively participates and “joins the conversation” – even if, at first glance, it is about very technological topics.
